Café Tondo
Café Tondo
Los Angeles, CA
A 1939 mechanic shop turned café-bar in Chinatown where Aunt Studio deliberately preserved the original scuffed concrete floors, painted brick, and exposed ceilings as part of the design narrative, layering in custom Mexican-crafted furniture, ceramic wall art, and Douglas fir ceiling panels. After dark, neon red lights wrap the crown of the pillbox building in a glow and the patio fills with the sound of live bolero, jazz, and metro trains rumbling overhead.
